Research Profile.
Niall Murray is a lecturer in the school of electronics, computer and software engineering in Athlone Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in QoE based evaluation of multisensory multimedia experiences which he completed in 2014 in AIT. He holds a BE (hons) in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway (2003). In 2004, he completed a Master of Engineering in Computer and Communication Systems at the University of Limerick.
He has 7 years industrial experience working in telecommunication (Ericsson, Martin Dawes Systems) and software development (Dell Perot Systems) industries. His interests include Immersive multimedia communication, QoE and multimedia communication for Future Internet (ICN).

The TIIME (Truly Immersive and Interactive Multimedia Experiences) group is a research domain within SRI which is led by Dr. Niall Murray. The remit of this group is on evaluating Quality of Experience (QoE) of Immersive and Interactive multimedia experiences. In addition, this research strand focuses on the use of natural user interfaces techniques, such as those based on Kinect, Leap motion and speech recognition etc. to track human interactions related to applications in sports, health, education and tourism.
